The analogy that information technology (IT) workers are architects, designers, and developers makes sense. Many software solutions -- especially those that automate operational processes -- are like buildings, with clean lines, clear entrances and exits, and things inside and outside of it. But, the analogy breaks down when it comes to business intelligence (BI) solutions.
