If Euripedes were alive and writing today, he'd doubtless invoke the mystery and power of analytic technology as a convenient deus ex machina to wrap up one of his tragedies. Or Hollywood blockbusters.
And why not? Analytics, we're told, can fix anything. Got a problem? Throw some analytics at it. Analytics can optimize, revivify, clarify, slice, dice, and -- like a Ginsu knife -- cut through metal. If only it were that simple.
2012, then, was a year of analytic over-sell. 2013 will be an annum of correction.
